Operation Round Up is a voluntary, member-drive fundraising program for local community projects. To date, Todd-Wadena members have raised and donated more than $300,000 for more than 350 local community service projects!
HOW IT WORKS:
Operation Round Up is an effective means of turning small change of individuals into a fund to benefit local communities. 100% of the contributions are distributed to local service projects.
Each month, Todd-Wadena 'rounds up' the electric bills of participating members to the next highest dollar. For example, if your bill is $52.73, the computer will round it up to $53.00. The additional 27 cents will be placed in a Community Trust and distributed to local charitable and community-based programs. The average annual contribution is about $6.
This program is strictly voluntary - yet about 65 percent of Todd-Wadena members participate. That generates about $30,000 for the program each year. Members who are not already participating may sign up by contacting the Cooperative office at 800-321-8932 or email to pjohnson@toddwadena.coop.
The Operation Round Up fund is administered by eight volunteer Community Trust board members, appointed by the Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative board of directors.
Community groups are encouraged to apply for an Operation Round Up donation by completing a Operation Round Up application. The Trust board evaluates funding requests three times each year, in accordance with the Community Trust bylaws and policies. Application deadlines are January 15, May 15 and September 15.
